Celebrate Walking in Springfield – Friday, July 17th at 10:30

Celebrate Springfield’s new commitment to walking and bicycling, including A newly developed Pedestrian-Bike Plan, with its focus on entire city connectivity. Recent activities such as creation of the Plumtree Bicycle Path, Safe Routes to School programs, including safety audits and Walking School Buses, McKnight Railtrail study, and focus on walking/bicycling in the X redesign.

Be part of WalkBoston’s 25 years of improving walking throughout Massachusetts

Audience:
Residents, community organizations, neighborhood associations, businesses supporting improved facilities for walking and bicycling for reasons including: Health, Addressing climate change, Neighborhood quality of life.

Morning of Friday, July 17, 2015 in conjunction with New North Citizens’ Council’s Kid’s Safety Date Event at Kenefick Park, Brightwood Neighborhood

Proposed Activities:
One and half mile walk highlighting neighborhood walking issues and Mass in Motion youth walk to parks program in the North End, Stop at PV Riverfront Club with information about the Springfield Pedestrian/Bicycle Plan, McKnight Railtrail, Safe Routes to School program, Walking School Buses, and more, and including how to become involved with these initiatives.
